Lapis Lazuli by its binomial name is a crystalline aggregate composed largely of blue lazurite. It also will have pyrite and mica throughout it, which makes Lapis Lazuli look like a night sky. Lapis Lazuli used to be ground up to make ultramarine pigments for paint as early as the 11th century A.D. This stone of truth and friendship can be found from a true blue to deep blue with occurrences of purplish blue to blue-green. It was one of the first stones to be used for jewelry. It is found in Afghanistan, Egypt, Canada and Chile.

These beads are wonderful, great quality too. I used them to make a multi-strand necklace and bracelet to match. They turned our so nice! Each strand is a different sequence of beads so they' are great pieces of jewelry!

not exciting, no gold flecks
Color is pretty but lapis need some pyrite flecks to look quality and pretty.

Nice color, good quality
These beads were a little darker than some other Lapis I've purchased but it was a nice change. There was attractive color variation (subtle) from bead to bead and the shape and quality was good. Good value as well. I would buy these again.
