Years ago, Carnelian was used for seals. It is moderately hard and capable of a good polish. Carnelian has been used for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians filled tombs with this chalcedony quartz because they thought it was a great power and could help on the soul's journey to the afterlife. It is found in Brazil, Australia, Russia, South America and the United States. Carnelian is thought to stop the flow of blood, help wounds heal, and aid in the curing of blood diseases.
