Typically, when bloodstone jasper has another color more dominant than its characteristic red hue, the name of the gemstone then changes to fancy jasper, as is the case here. If you look closely, you'll note that this gemstone still retains its tell-tale spotted appearance from which jasper derives it's name (Greek - iaspi, or "spotted stone"). Found in China, Africa, Brazil and California, this Fancy Jasper will blend through hues of red, clear, light and dark green and well as grey and mauve/pink.
