The Holiday Wasteland!

Posted by on 3/5/2013

If you're like most people, you feel like you're stuck right in the middle of a vast holiday wasteland. Beginning in late February and continuing until almost June, there is nothing on the horizon except an endless string of grueling five day work weeks.

Oh sure, there are a couple of big holidays, but they always seem to fall on the weekend. Couldn't we just once have an Easter Monday? Anyway, I was thinking maybe we should consider elevating some or all of the following days to actual day off holiday status:

Daylight Savings Time Day; How cool, an extra hour to have fun! Or wait, is it an hour less? Snap! I can never remember which way to turn the clock.

Seward's Folly Day; Russia beats him up, steals his milk money, tosses him upside down in an Alaskan trash can, and next thing you know, old Jeb's a millionaire! Now that's a reason for a day off!

St Patrick's Day; A great day to party like there's no tomorrow! Maybe the day after St Patrick's Day should also be a day off. We could call it St Patrick's Recovery Day!

March Equinox; I don't even know what this is, but I like the sound of it, as in; Yes, we'll be spending Equinox Day at our place in the Hamptons. Arrivederci!

Tax Day; Really, if ever we needed a day off Tax Day is definitely it! Of course, you will be taxed on the amount of fun you have.

Arbor Day; Wouldn't it be nice to have a whole day off to plant a tree? It's so... Earthy?

Mothers Day. Are you going to be the one to tell Mom that this isn't a real day off holiday?

Rhode Island Independence Day; if it's good enough for a state the size of a Prius, it's good enough for me.

Law Day; I looked it up, and it's a day to celebrate obeying the law. Also known as the "Incredibly Stupid Reason for a Holiday Day". Nevertheless, if it were a day off I'd support it.

I may have missed one or two, but I don't have time to work on it right now. I'm taking the day off to celebrate finishing this week's story!

Great products, great prices, and a free holiday off with every purchase!
