Q: Does the loop at the bottom open to attach a drop or does it need something to attach the drop? If so, what, and what tools do I need?

A: The loop at the bottom of this earring is a simple loop and can indeed be opened to the side to slide on other connector loops. You would only need a chain nose pliers and round nose pliers to open this (or you can use a jump ring opener).
