Q: Do I maneuver the long end to the inside of the bail or do I squeeze closed?

A: There is no need to move the long end. You simply add your pendant by snapping it in on the short end. If for some reason you have a gap after adding your pendant you can reshape it to close the gap with a pair of chain nose pliers.
