What type of wood is this? Is it Balsa wood?

A:
No it is not Balsa Wood. This is an American Hardwood. It is durable. You will have to pre-drill a pilot hole if you wish to use nails to add hooks on the back for hanging this item. I have had the Mini Jewelers Bench for 15 years. An invaluable addition to my work space. Mine is on a wheeled sewing cart with 5 extra drawers below, also made of wood.

We have tried to research the wood that this is made from with to no avail. We believe it is made from white pine or cedar.

Yes, it isn't a very tall unit. The unit measurements are 18"L x 5"D x 7-3/8"H
