Labradorite is the name given to a smoky gray stone that is plagioclase feldspar. That means when Labradorite is viewed from different angles, a metallic rainbow reflection is seen. (Labradorescence) Some describe it as the effect oil has when mixed with water. Labradorite is in the same family as Moonstone and was discovered in 1770 on St. Paul Island in Labrador, Canada.
