Last weekend we needed groceries, and I took my Grams with me to the store. We were almost finished shopping, and I left her with the cart full of groceries while I ran over to the bakery department to pick up some bread. I returned quickly, but Grams wasn't where I had left her. After a few minutes, I found her wandering through the Produce section. She told me she had lost the shopping cart, and was searching for it. I looked around, but the cart was nowhere to be found. Not wanting to make an issue, I suggested we get another cart and start shopping all over again. Soon the second cart was filled with groceries and we were heading to checkout. I realized I had forgotten to get milk, so I left Grams waiting in the checkout line with the cart, and ran back to the dairy section. I returned just a minute or so later, and I couldn't believe my eyes. There was Grams, standing in line....without our shopping cart! Now, I'm a fairly patient person, but really, how can someone lose not one, but two carts? In the same store? On the same day?

Needless to say, I immediately took Grams home and dropped her off, then went back to the store alone to purchase our groceries. Now, you might think the story ends here. But no, there's more. After shopping, I returned home, only to find a Police car in our driveway. Fearing the worst, I raced into the house, where I found two uniformed Officers, diligently taking notes, as my Grams reported the brazen theft of her two grocery carts.

I can just see the all-points bulletin; Be on the lookout for a nefarious gang of grocery cart thieves who wait until your back is turned, then swoop in, grab your shopping cart, head to the checkout line, pay for the groceries, and race out the door, never to be seen again!
