Game Of Stones!
Posted by on 3/5/2014

For thousands of years, gem quality Stones have been worn, collected, and valued for their beauty. Perhaps these coveted Stones even played a role in shaping the world? But, as Kingdoms rose and fell, and dynasties grew and perished, much of their history, was lost. Fortunately, researchers in JewelrySupply's Geological Department have unearthed some interesting and possibly even true facts about some of your favorite Stones;
Labradorite; named after a Shepherd's dog who discovered it while burying a bone.
Malachite; worn by handmaidens jealous of the Queen, hence the saying, "green with envy".
Sapphires; It's been over 3000 years, and still no one has figured out how to remove the extra "p".
Opal; believed to have supernatural powers. In the Middle Ages, no self respecting witch or warlock would be caught "undead" without one.
Amethyst; believed to prevent drunkenness. Hmm, that might come in handy next weekend...?
Amazonite; a source of great strength and power...but only for women. You go girl!
Iolite; from the Greek, meaning, I'm a little light on cash right now...can I catch you next week?
Agate; one of the most plentiful Stones, and favored by peasants as it was just the right size for chuckin' at the king's guards from across the moat.
Peridot; originally this Stone was only sold in pairs.....wait for it... ahh!
Tigers Eye; primarily worn to ward off angry Tigers...until it was discovered that Tigers are actually attracted by these Stones!
Sodalite; 1/3 less calories then Soda Stone.
Moonstone; worn on dark, stormy nights when the Moon was not visible.
Howlite; worn to prevent howling at the Moonstone.
Turquoise; an interesting past; if you couldn't spell it, you were not allowed to purchase it.
Moukite; later changed by philosopher George Costanza to Moopsite.
Great products, great prices, and next week we answer the important question; why does a Rolling Stone gather No Mas!
