At the end of last week's story I made an off-the-cuff comment which seems to be generating quite a lot of controversy; "There is no such thing as Elvis Beads."

I probably shouldn't have said it, but I think we know each other pretty well by now, and sometimes disappointing news like this is best heard from a friend. Now that it's been a few days, and you've had time to process the information, I hope that you've been able to come to terms with it in your own way.

I know it's hard to hear, but again, there is no such thing as Elvis Beads. They are a fable, a myth, a fairy tale made up by well meaning parents, and told to children at bedtime, in hopes of happy, restful slumber. Much like Easter Bunny Beads, Tooth Fairy Beads, Unicorn Beads, and yes, even Santa Claus Beads, they do not exist. They never did. They never...What's that? Oh, geez! I am so very, very sorry!

Honestly, I thought you knew!
