Turquoise has been mined since the ancient days in Egypt. The Aztecs used it to decorate ceremonial masks, and in ancient Arabic countries. It was used to ward off the “evil eye”.
Turquoise (pierre turquoise) is the French name for “Turkish stone” as it was through the Persian Empire that Turquoise was brought to Europe. It is a stone of wholeness, and can make one feel at home with both the physical and spiritual worlds. Turquoise can also help the immune system and is the recommended stone for detoxification. It is found in China, Peru, Mexico, Iran, Tibet, Australia and the U.S.
