Fluorite is the Latin word meaning “to flow”. It has been used both as flux and in the production of hydrofluoric acid for years. When this stone is viewed under UV light, it exhibits fluorescence, which is where the name “fluorescent” comes from.
Fluorite can come in many colors. From rose to pink, yellow, green, purple, white, blue to nearly colorless. Many times, Fluorite is found banded with any of the above listed colors. It is said to help clear the mind and help heighten mental achievement while increasing the ability to concentrate. It is also used in the treatment of bones, teeth and cell structure. It is found in Illinois (the state mineral), England and Colorado. |
