The name for this gemstone comes from the Greek word for blue ,"kyanos". It is a silicate mineral commonly found in metamorphic rock and can range in color anywhere from a deep sapphire blue to white, gray or even green. It is found in the Ural Mountains, Italy, Switzerland, and the Northeastern US. Kyanite is said to help in learning lessons, so it is used as a meditation stone, and is used to align the throat chakra.
